Created to benefit the Alzheimer's Association of Alabama, "Flying on Gossamer Wings" is hand-cut from Alabama Rose Marble found only at Alabama Marble Mineral & Mining Company's (AM3) Sylacauga, Alabama quarry. The Gold Leafed Bronze footed tray is edged with tumbled raw Amethyst sprinkled with crushed Amethyst from Canada's Thunder Bay Mine. The piece is accented with a Gold Leafed Brass Dragonfly adorned with Amethyst chips perched on a Gold Leafed Brass flower sprinkled with Moonstone. 
 
In creating this piece, I chose to use Amethyst as purple is the Alzheimer's Association's signature color, combining the calm stability of blue and the passionate energy of red. My choice of the Dragonfly was due to the fact that although they seem quite fragile, they are strong expert flyers and also represent grace, peace, adaptation, and patience. 
 
$150 from the sale of each tray will be donated to the Alzheimer's Assocation of Alabama.
 
As each piece is handmade, there will be variations in marble veining and shapes and placement of stones.
